Happy Day again

Hello dear friends. Quick update.
I have finished the red and orange colors on Happy WIP.
At first, I thought I was going to run out of thread (because I'm stitching with three over one on a 14ct. aida) but I was surprised that I was so wrong (big sigh of relief!). I also added some blue, notice the shop?
This is such an easy stitch that I was almost tempted to get another one like it. I found one that has a picnic theme, it's so cute! But I stopped myself when I saw the shipping cost:(
Seeing that this is the last week of September, I have to accept that I failed in my attempt to finish Halloween WIP before October. But I have been stitching on it little by little. I will take a photo of the witches by next update.

Happy Day WIP

Hello again blog friends. I hope everybody had a satisfying stitchy weekend.
I have stitched some brown, black and gray on Happy WIP, not much progress because I was sidetracked by the jelly bookmark.
Here's a comparison from last update--
before:

after:
The kids have eyes now...or eyelashes I should say. Other black and gray spots include the signboard, shop window, and the tires. I have also shown this piece to little niece and she wasn't disappointed at all that it's not a jellyfish. In fact, she finds it cute that she still wants it, (sigh). Sorry for the poor lighting on this. I think I'm going to stick with these kids for a while (I guess the witches will understand), I'll be trying brighter colors next, yippee:)

Guilt stitching

Hello friendly bloggers.
This post is being brought to you by the bad aunt who couldn't shake off the guilt for deceiving a little girl last week (remember the jellyfish? yup, that niece).
Sunday evening I started searching for a freebie jelly pattern to turn into a bookmark, I found a simple one at cyberstitchers.com (I guess the stitch fairies are still on my side, lol).
Only 4 colors in the original chart (coral , cranberry, christmas red, and black for backstitch), I picked a blue one for the border to add an ocean feel to it and maroon for the letter J which happens to be her initial (as in jellyfish, haha):
I wanted to finish it by week's end because we'll be seeing each other "again," so I have been putting a few stitches everyday. I added another jelly in yellow because the bookmark was too short with just one;)
Friday I was already backstitching! It's not everyday you can say "I braved the backstitch for my niece."
Today's the day of absolution. This was presented to her trimmed four squares from the border so she can finish it off. I originally thought of laminating it, then I realized she would immensely enjoy ripping the threads:
TA-DA!
Best aunt ever!

Happy Day WIP

Hello dear bloggers.
It's another Happy Day update, but be assured there's also progress on the Halloween WIP (actually it got more stitches put in but the witches are just not in the mood to pose for photos right now, bad hair day, lol).
On the other hand, these kids are having major hair fix these days. But I eventually got bored with browns, so I started orange by the girl's feet (supposed to be a bag).
This is all for now. Picking up Halloween WIP.

Happy Day WIP

Hello dear friends.
This weekend I stitched on Happy Day. Yesterday I was at my sis'. There's a funny thing my little niece said about this WIP. When I was stitching the boy's hat, she confidently said "I know what you're making, a jellyfish!" and she went on and on questioning about how big is this cartoony aquarium, is that going to be crab (the red blob), bla bla. So the bad aunt in me kept her thinking yes, see there's the roof of a mini castle. I held off stitching the red shirt 'til I got home this morning. That girl has a weird affinity with jellyfish, she's the only one in the entire family stung by a jelly, and no display of hysterics at that, weird (maybe because she grew up with Spongebob, haha). She asked me if she could have this xstitch when finished since her sister already got 3 (ooops, it's actually 4, little niece doesn't know about the birth sampler from long time ago, hah!). Now I got myself in deep trouble (that's what you get when you lie!) must find something jellylike to stitch! Yesterday, she was also reading for her book report and asked if I could stitch her a bookmark... so maybe I can dig up some free small jelly patterns to stitch, smart eh?
Okay, I'll worry about that in the future. Meanwhile, here's my progress:

The Branch WIP

Hello dear blogging friends;)
I'm back working on my Halloween WIP.
Who's hunting for houses, haunted houses anyone?
Looks like the witches are into real estate!
You would think this WIP is almost done but it's still a loooong way to go- some light colored stitching, backstitch, modifications (I will tell you about that in the future), the words, ugh, the words... I might revert to Happy Day:(

Happy Day WIP

Hello friends;)
I decided to pick up Happy Day this weekend and I've also been spending some time watching flosstubes, drooling over other stitchers' stash again, haha.
I'm trying to finish all the blue hues, two more shades to go (but I'll leave the faintest blue for last).
And yesterday I had some bobbin therapy:
Sometimes it's a welcome break to just look at flosses and neaten your stash, lol.

Three Witches

Hello again my dear blogging friends:)
I'm happy to say that Branch is moving along smoothly. Thanks a lot for the nice comments last time, just what I needed to keep me going!
I have finished the border, frames and all three witches!
Let's meet them:
Bachelorette number 1 is dressed in gray. With her outfit she looks like a novice in spellcraft.
Bachelorette number 2 scores extra points for posing with her broom.
And Bachelorette number 3 is the winner in my book for rockin' that LBD with sash, haha.
This is how The Branch looks now:

The Owl and the Pussycats

Hello friends.
A quick update on my Halloween WIP, The Branch.
Do you see two tiny cats and an owl? I have changed the owl's color from 318 to 341 which looks pearly giving it a subtle glow. I'm now doing the border (which only runs along half of the right side and the bottom) hopefully I'll finish it by tomorrow evening so I can move on to... the witches!

Bats and Pumpkins

Hello dear bloggers. Now that everything has come back to normal (no weather disturbances and vacation is really really over -sigh!), I'm able to spare more time for stitching, at least DH sees me quiet in one corner and not trotting here and there, haha.
Bats and pumpkins added and then some. I have started the vines on the pumpkins:) I'm loving the colors on this WIP.

The Branch WIP

Hello dear bloggers. Just dropping by for a quick post on The Branch:
I finished the main part of this chart, the branch, wheeee!

Isn't that one eerie-looking branch? For some weird reason I'm enjoying stitching this more than Happy Day (or maybe because of the deadline, haha). OK, I'll tell you the truth. As you know my Happy Day is a kit from China. The colors are wonderful, but I've noticed that the floss was a bit rough than the DMC sold here. So I had to use my thread conditioner and I'm just not in the mood to keep waxing my thread right now (I usually stitch at night on workdays). So that's it, worry not, I'll get back to it because I really find it so cute:)
